The Remote Life

Zoom, Instagram, FB, Linkedin, Twitter, TikTok…

It seems like it was going to happen regardless of the pandemic but indeed it has exponentially accelerated since 2020. Before we know it all of us will have a website and it will be an extension of us to be known outside our doors and into the “real” world.

—Lights, camera, Action!—

For many; school, work, shopping and entertainment happened behind the screens and indoors only, it seems like there is no going back one hundred percent the way things were before 2020. More and more jobs are now only remote and students have the option to remain remote, hybrid or in person.

For a while everything happened in this room for me, it was my gym, my school, my art studio, shopping center and conference room with friends and family.

I personally have had more presence on diverse platforms than with friends and family in the last six months than ever before and to be quite honest for me is a way to keep things balance in times when the great outdoors are not available for me. A couple of years ago I could’ve not imagine having the following platforms:

  • Instagram
  • Linkedin
  • YouTube Channel
  • FaceBook
  • Behance
  • Spark
  • Website
  • Blogger

This on the right are my great outdoors in recent months.

I was reflecting on things I really miss and that had changed me; I miss laugher, groups of friends laughing while grilling, cooking or dining around the table, I miss having visits and entertaining, I miss meeting up with friends at a restaurant and relaxing without feeling horrible for the servers that have to wear a mask (I do wear one all day at work and it’s nothing but exhausting) I miss the chatter at the gym and long hours of climbing… I know this is not therapy time but my approach to the remote life is that it will never substitute the human touch and I think is taking a toll on us; at the end of the day we will evolve by the next generation and simply we will not know what life was like before we got possessed! by screens.

Get outside!

Go away and as far were your phone doesn’t even work (just make sure you are 100% safe) and you’ll experience a re-birth. –Now, that’s my type of remote life–.

Cheers!
